How could Marty Schottenheimer help the Chiefs?

04:50 PM ET 11.10 | As you surely know by now, Chiefs Nation is abuzz on the heels of a report from SiriusXM NFL Radio that former Kansas City Chiefs head coach Marty Schottenheimer was in town Friday to meet with Clark Hunt. The team has reportedly denied the report but that shouldn't surprise anyone. The Chiefs still have football games to play and even if Hunt is quietly trying to prepare options for the future, he wouldn't be doing himself any favors by publicly acknowledging that he is meeting with potential replacements for the men still running things at Arrowhead. Besides, even if Schottenheimer did meet with Hunt on Friday, there is no way to know what that meeting was about. As far as I can tell, there are three possible reasons for a meeting between Hunt and Schottenheimer.

It's MartyMania. Two threads!

Although the idea of Marty and John Elway going head to head again as the GM's for the Chiefs and the Broncos would be a great story, at 70 I just don't think Schotty can pull it off for any length of time. it would be a huge goodwill gesture to Chief's fans to bring him back in some sort of consulting role, especially if that role included firing Scott Pioli and Romeo Crennel and getting rid of the particular form of the 'Patriot Way' that has infected Kansas City.

And...

if Hunt is quietly trying to prepare options for the future, he wouldn't be doing himself any favors by publicly acknowledging that he is meeting with potential replacements for the men still running things at Arrowhead

The men running things at Arrowhead shouldn't expect any favors based on their piss-poor performance.

I would love to see Schottenhemer come back. Makes me think of those great defensive players KC used to have. I'm still saddened by the loss of Derrick Thomas. He was truly a great one on the field.

Happy Remembrance Day (Canada)

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

-Lt. Col. John McRae = A Canadian soldier.

Thank you all!!

I hate to see recycled head coaches. It's not like there is a shortage of fresh blood. The owners just have a serious lack of cajones.

Thanks to all the Veterans, and those serving now, your sacrifices are appreciated.

It is clear based on the results that Piolli and Crenell have failed miserably to bring "the Patriot way" to KC.

Yes, many thanks to all who served around the world in the interest of preserving/restoring freedom.
