Alabama loss puts SEC's national title streak in danger

12:33 AM ET 11.11 | Down went the mighty Alabama Crimson Tide, thanks to Johnny Football and the Texas A&M Aggies. The No. 15 Aggies jumped out to an early 20-0 first quarter lead over Alabama, all thanks to a hot start from quarterback sensation Johnny Manziel, and hang on for the 29-24 win over the No. 1 ranked Crimson Tide. By knocking Alabama out of the number one spot, Texas A&M has shaken up the national championship picture. As it stands, there is no undefeated SEC team and the conference's six-year title streak is in serious danger. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Oregon Ducks and Kansas State Wildcats all remain unbeaten and are now in the top three spots in the nation. If the three squads can remain undefeated, there is virtually no chance that a one-loss SEC team could leapfrog the unbeaten teams and represent the mighty conference in the BCS national championship game. The fine folks at College Football Talk spoke with an unnamed BCS guru who confirmed that the SEC's championship streak is in serious jeopardy. "After A&M jumped out, I started running scenarios where a one-loss Alabama could make the title game [if the other three remain unbeaten]," the BcS guru told CFT. "I simply couldn't find one. That doesn't mean there's not one, but it does mean it would take something unprecedented."

well i really wanted Bama to win but if they cant get past aTm they surely do not want any of Oregon, or K State, although it would be a pretty good game against ND

I'm waiting for the argument to start from the SEC crowd. It will go something like this: The SEC has the most teams in the top 10; that proves the SEC is the best conference; therefore, the SEC champion has to be in the MNCG or it doesn't really count.

No argument here. You know what? Big deal, so we sit out one this year because Bama laid an egg. CFB is still faced with the problem of 3 good undefeated teams with only 2 slots to fill. Big picture, guys. Let's see if another conference can match the streak. CFB is cyclical, and that's what makes it fun.

At least we robbed some one else of "dethroning" the Mighty SEC! HA!
I'd rather have lost to a first year (and will add a very good) Texas A&M SEC foe than lose to a non-SEC team in Miami. After all, its been the media talking about how "mighty" we were. (This isn't anywhere near last year's Tide team.) I can't speak for Alabama fans each of you personally know, but I, personally, would never have ranked the Tide above No. 3. But I love the Tide all the same - Roll Tide! Bring on UGA, now they are a bunch of smoke and mirrors - Richt over Saban? It won't be a blow out, but it's not going to be all that close.

What is there to argue? We lost, and truthfully, the media was the one making the Tide so "mighty" (see my post above.) Although, just because we lost to A&M, doesn't mean OR would have beaten us, they run the ball 80% of the time, we are strong on the run. It's the passing that killed us (in LSU and A&M.) I think people still think we were the team from last year, the team that had 6 draft picks in the top 33 picks. Hell, I'll take 2 NC in 3 years and a high runner up in the 4th year! :)
The SEC was down this year and, I'd say even returned to the level that the rest of the country plays. But over all, you can't argue that the SEC is the premier football conference. 6 National Champs in a row by 4 different schools? I belive the Big Ten has only 4 schools who have won a National Championship - in the existance of the conference (1930?) So, it speaks for itself!
It was a great run! All good things come to an end! Roll Tide!

Ok, I searched, I was wrong about the Big 10 stat: Since 1901, 6 different schools (7 if you count Chicago which is no longer a member).

Your right im sayin it, it doesnt count, because it took an SEC team to beat an SEC team hah ND could,nt do it, Oregon couldnt do it, theyve tried theyre luck against the SEC twice and lost,.. K State maybe but doubtful.... so if your diggin for an arguement lets go !!!!!!!!!!!!
