IMO.......Any coach who does not want to coach all games should not be hired.........If the stress of an 82 game schedule is too much on you because of the traveling.............Stay home .............Commit to your team 100% or don't commit at all.

I'm not sure why this should effect your NBA viewership, Mick?I think you make adjustments to keep a guy like Phil involved with your team.I still remember when the Florida State Seminoles had Bobby Bowden in a golf cart so he could still coach on the sidelines.If Phil is the guy coaching them in practice and home games then he can work through Shaw or Pippen who have both played for him in the Triangle offense. If Phil used this logic in the real world he would be laughed out of every interview for a job he had....


It would be interesting to see how people in pro sports would survive in the real world if their talent for hitting, catching, or shooting a ball was not a requirement for employment..........

Most pro players...........Not all.............are self centered egomaniacs who think that they are above the average hard working Americans who really make this country what it is.....

I'm a travelling salesman but I can't always travel to make those face to face calls.
Oh wait now they have video conferencing. Maybe they can setup a monitor and camera on the Phil's oversized chair.

I am elated if Phil is indeed hired and have the opportunity to mentor Pippen as he was once mentored. I also like the idea of bring shaw back even though "Brat Buss" will still make decisions he shouldn't be making...The NBA version of Jerry Jones only he has the wisdom some time to let level thinking dictates the process, something that moron JJ can't do.

I also like this because this premature dynasty in Miami will meet its match, you may have Riles thinking of coming to the bench if his dynasty is interupted. Another reason why I like this so much is because he'll get the best outta Howard, geez wit Kobe and Phil all that grinning is about to subside and now this sometimes clown can get busy about his career and winning rings. Howard will long afterwards thank Phil as so many others have. I like what Kobe said "Phil is a teacher of men" and a basketball genius. As much as I hate the Lakers, I respect this!
