09:36 AM ET 11.11 | Marquess Wilson had been suspended since he walked off the Cougars' practice field Sunday. Wilson's statement on Saturday night alleged "physical, emotional and verbal abuse being allowed in the locker room and on the field." Subsequently, Washington State issued the following release: In response to numerous requests regarding Washington State University football, WSU Director of Athletics Bill Moos issued the following statement: It is unfortunate that Marquess has chosen not to go through the weekend and have the subsequent visit with me as we had discussed last Tuesday. I was hopeful to provide additional guidance if he was willing to meet the standards that have been set by Mike Leach and his staff in their effort to establish a competitive football program at Washington State. Unfortunately, during times of coaching transitions, departures are not uncommon. "We have procedures in place that were developed to monitor student-athlete welfare in all of our sports programs. We will continue to follow those procedures and modify them if needed. "I believe I join many Cougars in wishing Marquess well in his future endeavors. "WSU athletics plans no future statement at this time."

Guess its more about trying to win games at WSU than the players.. Leach has had a history of abusing players.. guess he's found a home now where that doen't matter

They haven't won much for a while..maybe that's the problem. Or the players don't like Washington sheds..they leak.

I wish the media would stop trying to reward bit<h behavior. It doesn't work with dogs and it doesn't work with football players. Grow up Marques. If you want coaches to be nice to you try badminton.

From what I can tell, Leach brought in the new agenda and the Jr's/Sr's aren't feeling it. So one by one they are getting "Kicked off" or just leaving. It has to happen, as we all know Leach probably isn't very conventional. They will be better off in the long haul for it.

Damn good point!!! I don't know all that much about Leach, but it makes one wonder why it took so long for him to get a head coaching job, after he was fired at TT. Something like "physical, emotional and verbal abusing" players, has a tendency to follow a person around for a lifetime and maybe that is why he was offered a job in Pullman, where most of the land is cow pastures and out of the main stream of the news media.

GTH, I agree with Bill Moos' comment to a "point", but IMO a coach can be "physical, emotional and verbal abusive toward a player in a "productive" way and I don't think Leach's coaching style comes across in a "good" way. Just my opinion.

Jada, wouldn't you call Pullman Washington, "out" of the main stream of the news media??? :-)

How can you judge Leach when you do not know the facts. The player crowing is the one with the problem. He was suspended for good reason then refused to meet with the AD who probably could have resolved his problem allowing him to play. He did not do so then chose to blast the coach in the media. He is somewhat like Obama. Tells lies and people believe him. Well, we will pay for Obama being re-elected and this young man will pay for being branded a "quitter"

Beyond pointing out Leach's past transgressions, I failed to notice anyone really judging the case...with most of us pleading ignorance since nobody gives a damn what goes on at Washington St.
As per your O'Bama commentary...besides being tired & pointless, I think that the analogy can be extended to pretty much any president. If you're interested in political banter, I suggest CNN.com or something along those lines.
