09:50 AM ET 11.11 | TV cameras caught Texas Tech head coach Tommy Tuberville in a heated exchange with a graduate assistant early in the third quarter of the Red Raiders' game with Kansas on Saturday. With Texas Tech up 21-17 but risking the lead by punting back to Kansas with about nine and a half minutes to go in the third quarter, the Red Raiders were called for an illegal formation while trying to punt the ball away. Tuberville was unhappy and went up to graduate assistant Kevin Oliver, who helps coordinate special teams. In a swift hand motion by Tuberville, Oliver's radio headset and hat were removed from his head to the ground. From the replays, it is obvious Tuberville was upset. However, Tuberville said he meant to grab Oliver's shoulder and accidentally connected with the headset. "I reached and grabbed him," Tuberville said. "He was on the field and I reached to grab him and pull him off. When I pulled back, I missed his shirt and grabbed his face mask and his microphone ripped off his head. I was trying to get him off the field." Tuberville denied he was specifically mad at Oliver. "He was trying to help me get (players) off the field," Tuberville said. "But he's standing out on the field and we're trying to get him off, and the referee is standing right there. I just pulled him off and missed his shoulder and grabbed his -- I mean, it wasn't anything to it. It was just one of those deals where I missed his shoulder and ended up grabbing the microphone on his head set and pulled it off."

I saw that on the replays last night. He did look PO'd, but I think we're getting a little too sissy-like in football. If you whack around the assistant coach or grab a kid by the face mask, you might not get as many mental mistakes.

Mitt? Is that you? I don't recall what I said about that particular event, but whatever it was I said I stand firmly behind what I don't remember saying.

You don't treat adult employees like your players. With players at least there is the veneer of a parent-child relationship and the mitigation of "Teaching a lesson". There is no excuse for humiliating an adult who is your peer.

I expect a consistent approach to this from FNers that Brian got for his screaming fit. But I doubt my expectation will be fulfilled.

Okay, there will be quite a few SEC fans that won't like this comment, but the SEC is down this year. Yes it's still a good football conference but it's time to face reality. Auburn sucks, Florida is over-rated and more than LUCKY to beat Louisiana Junior College, Auburn suck, Kentucky is lousy, Arkansas is beyond bad, Ole Miss is a loser, Miss State is way over-rated, Tennessee is terrible, yeah, the SEC sure is a powerful conference. I don't know if I should go stir the oatmeal or bait my hook!!! :-)
