08:04 PM ET 11.11 | San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith was knocked down by the Rams' Jo-Lonn Dunbar and came out of the game with a possible head injury. It was later confirmed that he did suffer a concussion after he was last seen heading into the locker room with a trainer. Backup Colin Kaepernick is now in the game for San Francisco. Smith was 7-for-8 for 72 yards, one touchdowns and no interceptions as the heavy favorites trail the Rams 14-7 in the second quarter. He has started 27 straight games for the 49ers, including playoff games.

I still call it an upset, this has been a weekend for them, including saturdays.

Definitely goes as an upset, but when your QB goes out in the 1st half it does tend to make a big difference

I think the last one was back in 2008.

True, although even with Vick hurt I didn't think the Philly game mattered

Wasted opportunity by the Rams. I think if CK was given a little bit more trust in the passing game the Niners could have put this game away before OT.

A tie. Ugh.
They say a tie is like kissing your sister. Well, my sister is a Niners fan, too, so that clearly is wrong. So....basically, this game was like kissing Nerby.
That makes me sad.
No offense, Tnerb.

Yes but for a delay of game on what would have been the winning FG in OT to miss from 5 more yards away still has to be disappointing for the Rams

Yes the tie irked me. But it was not what irritated me the most about this game. The Niners defense played poorly. Very poorly. But also, hats off to Jeff Fisher and crew. They prepared and executed well. The Niners overlooked the fact that the Rams had a bye week last week as well. Both teams had plenty of time to prepare. And the Rams won that battle. But what hurt us the most was the play calling once Akers got into "field goal range in OT." The play calling was to not turn the ball over. Rather than go down and score a TD. Akers is not the Akers of last year. He has already missed "gimmes" this year and proved it once again this game. Poor execution by the Niners, excellent execution by the Rams.
