SEC's national championship streak in jeopardy

11:25 PM ET 11.11 | Following Saturday night's 29-24 upset defeat to Texas A&M, the Alabama Crimson Tide have dropped to No. 4 in the latest BCS standings, placing them behind still-undefeated Kansas State, Oregon and Notre Dame. Although the loss takes Alabama out of the driver's seat in terms of making it to a second consecutive BCS National Championship game appearance, it doesn't spell the end to their season. The Crimson Tide are still in control of their own destiny in winning the SEC West title - where they would face No. 5 Georgia in the SEC Championship game - barring an even more colossal defeat in two weeks against struggling Auburn than the one to Texas A&M this past weekend.

Yep, looks like the ducks vs K Lite, even ND misses out on the NCG and undefeated too, ala Aubie.

Oregon must play Stanford, Oregon St, and either USC or UCLA. I feel they will lose one of those three.

A 1 loss team would have a chance if we had a playoff. Just sayin ...

Buckey, I think they should lose one of those too, but they been waiting for this golden opportunity and I think they will excel and not lose one of them this year. Same as K Lite, them two are NCG bound.

SEC's national championship streak in jeopardy.
Not in jeopardy, ended last year, did they not lose the NCG last year?

I like both teams and coaches and hope they do play in the BCS championship. They definitely ought to be well motivated, there is no doubt. For Oregon, each opponent has very good reasons to be motivated too, winning the division or conference, plus knocking off a #1 team. Here's hoping Oregon successfully and continuously can play at their normal high standard.

So when do we hear the SEC guys start lobbying for a one-loss SEC team to be in the MNCG?

Saw your "should've court martialed that guy when we had the chance" comment on the Pick'em, ROFLMAO on that one.

You won't hear that schizzzite from me as long as there are respectable undefeated teams. "Respectable" being the key word there, of course.

Okay, cards on the table: are any of the three remaining undefeated teams not "respectable" enough for you?

that's what they get for having two in last years game.

Nope. If two of the three undefeated teams stay that way they deserve to play in the MNCG. If they all lose expect an SEC team to be there (maybe two).

My preference is that if Bama makes it in they do NOT play Oregon. After seeing how they handled the A&M offense I could imagine how ugly it could get against Oregon. Although I have to say that A&M had everything go their way. (Bama reciever gets hit ball pops right to an A&M guy, A&M QB fumbles ball up in the air right to himself, twice recievers popped the ball up in the air right to themselves.) The football gods were with them Saturday. Not saying they did not beat us fair and square cause they did but it was frustrating to watch as a Bama fan.
