Lakers hire D'Antoni after Jackson's many demands

04:09 AM ET 11.12 | After much speculation that Phil Jackson would return and bring back the zen to Los Angeles, the Lakers instead hired former Suns and Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni who will begin the new week as the Lakers' new coach. According to those who were close to the situation, the deal with D'Antoni picked up a ton of speed late in the night on Sunday, and the terms were all but agreed upon before the Lakers finished their victory against the Kings. The reason Jackson won't be coming back to town is based solely on his insane demands that the Lakers weren't interested in meeting. Those demands ended up being what tore the deal apart between Jackson and the Lakers. All along it had been reported that Phil Jackson wanted total control of the Lakers on and off the court, something Jerry Buss was not too keen on giving Jackson. Not only that, Jackson wanted to hand pick his successor, only travel to select road games and wanted to get paid anywhere between $10-$15 million dollars annually. Mike D'Antoni is just happy to have a job again, one that affords him an opportunity to finally win a ring.

Nothing bizarre about it.............In 1957......at the age of seven............My love for the Yankees was born when I saw Mickey Mantle play on tv.............The same year the same thing happened when I saw Bill Russell and the Celtics............And that same year I became a Colts fan because of Johnny Unitas........
So my teams of 55 years was based on players.......Not cities..............

I don't know why folks can't wrap their heads around this. You and I are exactly the same in this regard. I am a native New Yorker and a life long (unapologetic) Yankees fan. Likewise, as a child while watching the old half-time show "Red on Roundball" and reading the stories about the great Boston Celtics, that told of how Red Auerbach chose the "best players" (regardless of RCC), I became a life long fan. It's really as simple as that.

Well Kobe will be happy with putting up 30 shots a game and not getting in trouble for it.
Who will make the better pick and roll players, Pau and Nash or Dwight and Nash??
Mike;s system need a spot up 3 shooter to work 100% will a trade come to fit this role if so who do they trade??
