Enigmatic Rivers now dooming the Chargers

08:01 AM ET 11.12 | Since the 2010 season, by which point he'd thrown 136 touchdowns against 58 interceptions, Philip Rivers has been trending downward. [Since, Rivers] has thrown 42 touchdowns and been intercepted 32 times, a worse ratio than all but six of the quarterbacks that have thrown 700 passes in that span. That could be the statistic most illustrative of his fall -- if there weren't more. Where Rivers' overall interception percentage of 2.4 through 2010 was sixth-lowest in history among those with 2,000 attempts, it is 3.6 percent since then. ... But he's not the problem. The troubling reality, though, the worst thing for a team that has for so long depended on him, is that he is no longer the solution. He's not awful, he's simply not enough.

He's definitely sealing the fate of the HC... and hopefully (for Charger fans) the GM.

Rivers can be someone you love to hate, so seeing him (and the Chargers) melt down like that is like getting an extra Christmas present. If the owner's haven't seen enough to know that the whole organization needs to be shaken up and reset, he's on drugs. Either that, or they built their headquarters on some cursed Indian burial ground.

Since 2010 the Chargers have let Sproles and Jackson walk, two significant offensive weapons that have not been replaced.

Norv Turner is garbage and doesn't know how to call a game , ownership let Rivers number one target in Jax go to T.B.. Mediocre running game , and Gates looks old out there . With all that said I would clean house from top to bottom with the exception of Rivers ..Rivers is a very good quarterback, he obviously is trying to do too much with his limited supporting cast.

Rivers is the least of their problems. He can be fixed, but how many walls do you have to knock down to find an opening for the GM's ego to fit through to get him out of that building?

I haven't seen a lot of the Chargers games this year, but it appears to be a total team meltdown. Maybe Rivers is trying too hard, & forcing things, to make something happen?

And with luck, we won't have to, unless the game against the Jets shows up on Comedy Connection.

They should have kept Drew Brees when they had the chance.

Yes, letting the offense grow weaker has not been a good front office decision. First, a new GM and coaches; then evaluate the talent with fresh eyes. I would start that now with the GM, at least--might need to wait until the end of the year for coaching changes.
(I would love to see the mid-season coaching change. Owner: "Gentlemen, meet your new coach." Coach: "Gentlemen, here is your new play book. Be ready to execute all phases by Sunday at 10:00 AM." Rivers: "Oh my God, Oh my God, Oh my God...")

Thank you Archie Manning for standing up to the Chargers and ensuring that he wouldn't end up in Pittsburgh.
