The best football player in the world

08:02 AM ET 11.12 | Minnesotans have seen Hall of Famers before, with both the Twins and Vikings. At a few brief moments in time, they could claim to be watching the best player in the world. Never could they be so sure as they are today. Adrian Peterson is the best football player in the world. He may not be the most important, not in a sport ruled by quarterbacks. He may be surpassed at any time, in the Darwinian league in which he plays. If the measures of a complete football player are strength, speed, quickness, toughness, agility, resilience, competitiveness and production, Peterson is at the moment unmatched. He's becoming the player of the year when he should have been thrilled with being considered the comeback player of the year.

2012 MVP?

Why not - where would the Queens be without him this season.

Let's see how deep #18 can take the Broncos in the playoffs before we decide, shall we? Adrian Peterson isn't the only guy who could be both comeback player and MVP.

It would be interesting to see how good the Vikes could be if they had a decent QB.

They beat the Lions, a 4-5 team that has not lived up to expectations. As good as AP is, I think they come up a game short of a playoff spot.

Yep... ol' Peyton is gonna have a say also.

I don't understand... That's not Tom Brady in that picture??? Stupid interns...

Best Ever? Sure, if you're 12 years old. Pick up a book before writing this crap.

November 12, 2012  09:49 AM ET

There are quite a few games left in the season. Best of the year....never mind "Ever" will play out then.

November 12, 2012  09:51 AM ET

I don't think we can crown him the best football player this year just yet but he's definitely in the discussion. What he's been able to accomplish so far this year has been amazing. The Vikings have exceeded everyone's preseason expectations. Nobody on this thread (including me) gave them a chance to even have a winning record this far into the season. P. Manning is good but he's playing on a much better team in arguably a weaker division.

It would help if the rest of the world were trying to produce football players. Ya know, make it fair competition and whatnot.Absurd statement anyhow.

NFL is a world in itself....almost as bad as NBA......its all about "US"....no one dares to question their supremacy.....what a joke........

They should never say that about a RB who just went up against the Lions, who seem to make a lot of runners look HOF

He did rip Seattle's defense, in Seattle, the week before.
