08:18 AM ET 11.12 | To the extent Marquess Wilson set out to spur change at Washington State, he may have succeeded. [School president] Elson Floyd said Sunday he has requested independent investigations of the WSU football program by the athletic department and the Pac-12 Conference in the wake of allegations of abuse leveled by [Wilson]. ... Saturday night after the Cougars' latest loss in a disappointing 2-8 season, Leach praised his team, saying, "I couldn't be prouder of the effort." On his postgame radio show, referencing the good effort and Wilson's departure, "Clearly, it was addition by subtraction." When asked after Sunday night's short routine practice for reaction to the investigations of abuse, Leach replied: "Not concerned. Not concerned at all."

Very difficult situation here, obviously. Coaches are supposed to be tough on players, football is a sport of toughness to say the very least.
But where's the line between tough and abuse? And who is supposed to draw that line? Coaches? Players? School officials?

Do we see a pattern here? Football is football GR.
We are not seeing these allegations in other places and yet all coaches face the same set of circumstances . . . how to motivate, train and coach a 19 yr old kid. Where there is smoke there is fire and it looks like Mike might have some off the field issues that are making their way onto the field.
IMO
12-0 deal with it…

It's common knowledge (and has been for a long time) that Leach is very "non traditional" in nearly everything he does. He's actually doing the same things that were done while he was an assistant at several places under different head coaches.
Wife was the HS counselor for one of his former receivers and that player fully disclosed some of the antics. He said he and a few other team mates had to sit in classroom desks on the 50 yard line of the Jones AT&T Stadium and do their homework in 100 degree heat because they cut class. So if such is over the top, then Leach is definitely guilty as charged.

Would this have even made the news 20 yrs ago? 50 yrs ago? Discipline for kids in this day and age is like getting a Diva to change deodorants, it just is a tough sell1

Contrast this to what you hear about, oh, say, the Junction Boys' experience under the Bear. Bet those guys are laughing their gray hairs off when they read about this.

Read where Bama (Bear's family I think) hosted the Junction Boys for the game last Saturday. DOn't know if true but my Aggie neighbor told me so.

We definitely honored them at this game. I'm not sure why since they are Texas A&M, other than yes, I know, Coach Bryant coached them. Seemed odd that we did it, though.

I thought it strange too...but, you have to remember three of my four best friends are cult agnuts and nothing involving the aggies surprises me any more.
I asked my neighbor why they would do it. He thought it had to do more with the Bryant family than the university since the 60 year anniversary is coming up.

He definitely gets in their heads, no doubt about it Harley. Don't know where the line is that crosses over into the mental/emotional abuse. That's for people smarter than me but the mentally weak probably think he crosses that line immediately.
He also gets into school admins heads, media heads and little fat girlfriends heads.

As I stated a few weeks ago, quite a few players on WSU's roster came from the Los Angeles area and had very little parent guidance and aren't use to being coached the way Leach coaches. That is IMO, what made Pete Carroll such a good college football coach, he knew how to handle these type of kids with kid gloves. Wilson is from the Eugene Oregon area, just curious if he want to enroll in Oregon?
