Ugly reception awaiting Bettman Monday night

08:19 AM ET 11.12 | According to a weekend report, both Gary Bettman and Bill Daly had plans to attend Monday's Hall of Fame ceremony, which will very likely overshadow the procedings. [On a day] that is supposed to be about Sakic, Pavel Bure, Adam Oates, and Mats Sundin, they will steal the spotlight. Newspapers and television stations only have so much space and time to devote to hockey, and the presence of the NHL's head honchos would require chronicling at the expense of the Hall of Famers. Even if Bettman and Daly refuse to speak to the media at the ceremony, their no-comments would merit a story. ... Showing up at the Hall of Fame inductions, at a time when they have to know their presence will distract from the celebration, is not in anyone's best interests.

When has Buttgoblin ever received a 'good' reception?

If the Butt-plug and his lap dog Daly show up at the HOF ceremony, may I suggest tar and feathers? That would qualify as a good reception.

Why would they show up? Outside of being the owners lead dogs they really have no connection to the game or its history. Nobody wants you there gary..take the night off and hit the Brass rail instead.

Either that or pelt them with rotten garbage, like in the old school theatres... The 4 players honoured should be the only focus of this event, not the ego maniacal midget and his improvident lack-wit of a henchman.

Might I suggest a Sakic wrist shot to the five hole...only to have him miss on the high side since he's a little rusty from retirement.

He really should. Will he?
His own sense of self importance will dictate his moves.
So...if I were a betting man,(no pun intended and I'm not for the record) I'd have to put money down that he does show up.

I wish I could be there with a bag full of rotten fruit. Bettman has destroyed the NHL. There will be no coming back from this disaster. I vowed never to attend a game again after the last lock-out, as long as Bettman was running the league. This time I am done with the league in any fashion as long as this **** is in charge.

Rotten fruit? That's it? I guarantee Bettman is glancing around for snipers every time he peeks his head out of his rat hole.

Careful now. You're disparaging rats.

I hope someone has the good sense to bring a hockey stick to the ceremony and use it to cross check him off the podium.

A Sakic wrist shot to the five hole....perfect! Unfortunately there is no high side to miss on.

It's pretty low (even for him) to go out of his way to ruin a once in a lifetime event for the inductees.
