NFL's first tie since 2008

11:16 AM ET 11.12 | The St. Louis Rams did not lose. The San Francisco 49ers did not win. Instead, the two NFC West rivals played each other to a hard-hitting, ugly 24-24 tie that gave the NFL its first tie game since the Philadelphia Eagles and Cincinnati Bengals fought to a 13-13 tie in 2008. Since the NFL folded the AFL into one league in 1970, there have been only 46 tie games during the regular season. This week's tie was only the third since 2002 and just the fourth time in more than 20 years.

At least the QB and coachs knew they would tie, unlike the last one

That was pretty funny with McNabb. He really showed is Wonderlic on that one.

I still don't care for NFL overtime rules.

Reid didn't know either

I agree, they should play an overtime quarter not sudden death.

I still like it better than college.

You've got to admit, though, that it's better than it was, where a coin toss was deciding the outcome as often as not.

Agreed.

The scores can really get out of hand in college when they play more than 2 OT's.

I think in regular season, they should play an entire 5th period, if still tied its a tie. Whoever is ahead at the end of 15 minutes is the winner, no sudden death

Yeah, I didn't like all the tests and problem sets and stuff, but there was beer and coeds and all-night card games and beer and coeds, right?

I think the modified sudden death they've got now is good. The object is to determine a winner. If you're going to go with another full period, why not just stop at 60 minutes?

November 12, 2012  01:53 PM ET

Because I hate a game won in overtime by a field goal

Grrrr....a tie......with the Rams. Really. That's about as bad as almost losing to the Bills.
