02:39 PM ET 11.12 | Chicago Bears head coach Lovie Smith spoke with the media on Monday following the team's Sunday Night Football loss to the Houston Texans, but he did not have an update on injured quarterback Jay Cutler. According to the Chicago Tribune, Smith would not speculate on Cutler's status for the Week 11 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. Smith also reiterated that Cutler didn't immediately display concussion symptoms following the hit, which is why he stayed in the game for a few more plays. It seems his story checks out, as the NFL has already cleared the Bears of any wrongdoing in the handling of Cutler's injury. If Cutler can't go, backup Jason Campbell would take the reins. Josh McCown, currently a free agent, is also expected to be signed by the Bears.

And if they are talking about signing a guy who knows the system (rather than promoting a practice squad guy for a week) suggests that they think he is pretty hurt.
Too bad because he was playing well.

The Bears D will have to step up even more until number 6 gets back if they are going to stay in the playoff picture.

Bell rung? That guy Dobbin took a totally cheap shot on a totally vulnerable player and should be fined. It was helmet-to-helmet, not roughing the passer (as was called) and he was trying to get Cutler down. (BTW, how can you "rough the passer" if he's over the line of scrimmage?)

They shouldn't be, though. Big fines for people who helmet-to-helmet. It's unnecessary. As it is, this will be Dobbins' finest moment cause he s uc ks otherwise.

That used to be covered under the "unsportsmanlike conduct" and "unnecessary roughness" rules; then it was covered under "spearing." In the last few years the NFL has decided to just allow it--until the lawsuits, that is.

This is the kind of play that Goodell is on the lookout for. Dobbins was stupid enough to pull that on a Sunday Night game? Dumbass.
