05:03 PM ET 11.12 | After officials completely ignored the gaffe during the game, the National Football League officially released a statement on Monday saying that a Week 10 touchdown return by Denver's Trindon Holliday should have been reviewed. Holliday scored during an electric 76-yard punt return early in the second quarter against the Panthers on Sunday, on a play that served to completely shift the momentum to Denver's side with a 14-7 advantage. But even though numerous replays later proved that Holliday had lost control of the ball before he actually entered the end zone, the touchdown still was not overturned by officials to the dismay of viewers across the country. The correct call on the field would have instantly awarded Holliday a fumble lost and given the ball to Cam Newton's Panthers at their own 20-yard line.
