08:08 AM ET 11.13 | Fresh off recruiting season for his son, Torii Hunter, even if he's ready for it to be over soon, has enjoyed his own courting. As the free-agent outfielder prepares for life after the Angels, he has 13 or 14 teams checking in with him. Of those, the Tigers, Rangers and Braves are among the most aggressive, according to CBSSports.com sources. Hunter declined to identify a favorite or even whittle down the list, but given his parameters, it's easy to see several fits. Especially in Detroit. Hunter, 37, has one clear obsession at this point in his career, and that's to win a World Series ring. "That's the ultimate goal," he says. ... That's why when you scan the landscape for potential fits, it's hard to find one more compatible than Detroit.

The Red Sox should give this guy $100 over 5 years.

Hunter is looking for a team that has a chance to win now and that team is the Tigers, playing in a weak division they are a lock to get back to the playoffs, and also have 28, MVP, and probably the best pitcher in baseball.

Of those three they have the most complete team. The best 1-3 starting rotation of the three mentioned, the reigning MVP, a triple crown winner, a great leadoff guy in Jackson and Prince Fielder.

For 25 bucks a year, I think they would get a decent return on their investment.

I wonder if he happened to be in Detroit (or talking to the Detroit media) when he made this statement.

If you read the article, the part about Detroit wasn't in Torii's quote... it was the words of the writer, FYI.

Yep, just speculation on the writer's part. Although I do agree, his best chance of winning of the three teams mentioned would be with the Tigers because of the talent on the roster and the division they play in makes it an easier path to the playoffs.

Torii would be welcomed in many dugouts next year...but it better be with no more than a two-year deal.

The Giants could use a right handed bat in LF for the next couple of years . . . He'd be a nice fit, they're competitive on the big stage, the pitching staff will come back intact. 2nd coming of Ellis Burks at AT&T? They'd be a little RH heavy, but that bodes well in that park. There are HR's to be had to LF. Great defender, great teammate. Maybe too pricey.

Hunter makes sense for a team that just needs a little push over the edge, but the risk is he could suddenly start playing like he's 38.

What's wrong with being 38? My dad is 38 and he can probably kick your **** in any sport
