Signing Ryu may wait until 11th hour

The 25.7 the Dodgers shell out for an non-proven talent in the MLB would pay the salary of Greinke and a journeyman player next year.

One stupid move after another for this team. I guess trading for Carl Crawford was OK since they did it as part of an overall strategy to get to the World Series. How did that work out?

Ryu is pretty good pitcher, but did not dominate the k-league. So... it begs the question. Why sign a pitcher who has not dominated a league that may have talent level of low AAA...? And he is 26, not 20 or 21, which means he has relatively significant amount of miles on his left arm. His career ERA in K-league is 2.89. Pretty good, but not dominating.

That would be pretty clever of the Dodgers. But I think Ted Lilly is 36 and injured, and signing a 25 year old left-hander to replace him would be a genuine priority for the Dodgers. I think their rumored "pursuit" of guys like Youkilis is blowing smoke to drive up the price for someone else.

Well... it could be an insurance policy.. If they can't sign Greinke or trade for a Shields, than this guy would more than replace Ted Lilly... who is coming off major surgury and is going to have challenges and set backs... and if they sign or make a major trade, they get the $25MM back... because now no one else but the Dodgers can sign this guy this year... so I don't see much down side for the Dodgers at this stage... be interesting to see how the next month plays out...

they didn't have any other option, to get alex gonzalez the dodgers had to take crawford contract as well, other than that no crawford no gonzalez,,,,,

i the dodgers estrategy is the right thing to do, trade some pitchers and open a spot for the new rookie pitcher though,,.

that's WHY the rights to sign him are half of the price as well, darvish top price for the rights to sign him were a bit higher 51.5,,, if this ryu pitcher is not a dominant pitcher that explain why,

Because he can hadouken every batter that gets a hit

I tried to tell you the Crawford signing was too risky, but you wouldn't listen!

Ryu is supposed to be a good young pitcher. The Dodgers are actually smart for doing that as an investment for the future. I think the Crawford deal will still pan out, and will A Gon, both of whom will be a better fit in LA and Dodger stadium and the NL West than in Boston. Beckett will rebound too.

I think the one that the Dodgers will regret is HanRam. The guy sucks.

How do the Japanese, Koreans, etc. get away with charging $millions just to talk to a guy? Better question- why does the MLB pay them for the "option?"
