An untouchable in Oakland

08:10 AM ET 11.13 | What a difference a year makes in Oakland, where the A's unloaded Trevor Cahill, Gio Gonzalez and Andrew Bailey, then went on to win the AL West. [Brett Anderson] is in a position not unlike where Gonzalez and Cahill were a year ago, set to earn $5.75 million in 2013 with club options of $8 million in '14 and $12 million in '15. Naturally, several teams have inquired about Anderson's availability. The A's, however, are informing clubs that they do not intend to trade him. ... [Billy Beane] evidently thinks that the team will be good enough to win again next season, and understands that trading Anderson after such a feel-good finish would be horrible public relations. It's another Oakland upset. Barring a major reversal, Anderson will stay.

With the way money is being thrown around in today market the A's have a good deal with Anderson and it looks lie they know it and are going to keep him.

Note to the interns: see if you can find an actual picture of Bob Melvin, instead of using Bob Gehren, who has been gone for a couple of years now.

Wow, even worse than I thought.Maybe they could find an accurate picture of Jimmie Foxx or Eddie Collins?

Now those were some good players! I would like to see them play again. Of course, they would be zombies now, but think of the theater--"Foxx lines the ball to CF." "Foxx stumbles to 1B." "Foxx is eating the firstbaseman!" It would be exciting.

the A's could get another or a few regular hitters,,,,, another SS perhaps?? pitching its the top priority in any team guess the A's would hold on to anderson a move that should pay great dividends,,,,, in the future though,,,,

teams can never predict any season, the A's were suppost to finish last and the results were too different from the espn analyst, the angels were to finish second and verely scape third place in their division,,,,,

Cespedes was the big surprise in the A's lineup, no to mention the guy WHO was traded for the closer bailey,,,,

November 13, 2012  12:08 PM ET

we have to wait and see how things unfold next season, lets not forget there would be 5 teams unstead 4 in the west division!!!!!!

BS. Anderson's value is just down right now because he didn't pitch much this year. Beane could well trade Anderson by the summer trade deadline.

QUOTE(#13):

I was shocked to see that Josh's OPS+ was almost identical from '11 to '12.He had a lot of jacks last season, but his OBP was pretty awful. Slugging was actually only up a little bit, although Oakland is definitely a tougher place to hit than Fenway.

PED's?

The biggest trade of the year which favorite the jays all the way, this franchise would be a terrible headache for the Yankees and red Sox just to name a few teams :-) :-)
