While both sides took a reprieve Monday to attend the Hockey Hall of Fame induction ceremonies in Toronto, there is no guarantee when they'll bargain again, though it appears it will next be in Canada and not New York City. "The NHL is not ready to make a deal yet," said one source, who has had a steady pulse on these talks since September. "Gary [Bettman] has a date in mind to play, and we're not there yet." ... Right now, the earliest the NHL could play seems to be Dec. 1. Many say that Jan. 1 is the last date to get a "meaningful" number of games in on an abbreviated schedule.
