Frustrated Crosby paints talks as 'one-sided'

08:20 AM ET 11.13 | An obvious sense of frustration has set in with Sidney Crosby. As he has all along, Crosby feels as if the NHLPA is more willing to give and negotiate than the owners. In talks Sunday, the NHL apparently did not budge on its demands for several altered, owner-friendly player contract rights. And that's on top of the major core economic issues. ... On the flavor of the talks: It's pretty one-sided. I don't really know what (the owners) have given up to this point. They're trying to take away all the contracting rights. The question I'd ask is why would we change that? I think we all think it's the most competitive league in the world so why would you go and change that -- the way contracts go and the way teams can operate?

It's nice to see he's picked up a hobby.

Non-story. What else is a player going to say?

November 13, 2012  08:58 AM ET

Could we get a list of all the concessions the players have made since this fiasco started?

Yeah. One sided. The owners and Bettman are talking. The Fehrer and the NHLPA aren't.

Like most others I have no idea what is going on in these sporadic talks. I doubt that over 600 members of the NHLPA know much more than any of us do. One day we may find out. In any event, I give the same advice I have since the beginning - honor all contracts signed by September15 (and after for that matter). Begin real revenue sharing of league-wide revenues, re-locate teams to better markets. While contraction sounds good that means fewer jobs for players and I think they might oppose that vigorously. There are enough good markets in Canada and the Northern US to profitably operate 30 teams. Do not put teams in Tucson, American Samoa, Lisbon, Honolulu (sorry Stranger) or Guadalahara, at least not for the next few seasons.

At this point, Bettman should just set a date to officially cancel the season, and then we will get some movement on one side. Until a season is in jeopardy, no one is going to move because they both have some leverage. I'm not sure how many players are willing to miss another season of paychecks, while I think 1/2 or atleast 1/3 of the owners in the league would gladly sit another one out. Set a date, and lets see who blinks first!

The real question is what concessions have the owners made?

You mean besides accepting a reduction of HRR from 57% to 50%?

Please don't confuse the issue with facts. :-)

Where are the Penguins fans to tell us once again that Crosby's whining is a thing of the past? ;-)

Good one!

Cause the owners trip and fall all over eachother when July 1st comes, Sid...ripping and clawing at the players like they're women trying to take on a date. Talking about bidding wars obviously where the player always win...common sense and sanity should come into play tho with these owners.

Example: Suter..sure he's good but he's not 7.5 per year good...6.7 per TOPS...and he's not even a #1 D-Man..he's a true #2 D-Man....Detroit and Holland had it right when they said "fu__ck that" to the bidding war for him and dropped out of it.

And another thing will Crosby still be singing the same tune WHEN he's on the LTIR again ?? Hand-cuffing the Pens with his massive contract for a guy with clear concussion problems ??

He didn't set a date last time, he isn't going to this time. Last time, Buttmilk went as far as early February before cancelling. This time, assume that mid-January will be the latest. He doesn't care. He knows he'll get what he wants if he cancels the season. The players proved that last time. He has no reason to push for a deal he doesn't want. The players have millions of reasons.

I'm starting to believe BGM is two different people who take control of the account on alternate days..
