08:20 AM ET 11.13 | In Steve Fehr's estimation, the CBA negotiations could be wrapped up in a hurry once a breakthrough happens. "One thing (deputy commissioner) Bill Daly and I agree upon is that when the moment is right the deal could be done very quickly," Fehr said Monday during a panel discussion at the PrimeTime Sports Management Conference. ... Asked later if he agreed with that assertion, Daly replied: "I hope he's right." Representatives from the NHL and NHLPA have met seven of the last nine days, but no future talks are planned. Fehr told the panel that three issues remain to be solved: the split of money, player contract rights and who pays for the damage caused by the lockout.

Then hire HC. He'll have this tidied up in 8 seconds.

"when the moment is right"??

Sounds like "when we, the almighty Fehr family, deem it over, it will be over"

Bettman is not the ONLY one at fault in this fiasco.

"Down to these three issues"

At the pace they are going, that should take .... what ..... another six months?

No, he isn't. The Fehrer has a tack record as well. And, from a fan standpoint, it ain't pretty. Let the lockhorn continue.

My head is starting to hurt from banging it on the desk repeatedly for two months now.

Sounds more like a Cialis commercial. Maybe Fehr and Daly can sit in bathtubs in a sunny meadow to resolve these issues?

There's a difference - by Leaf fan midseason form, I am so drunk all the time to numb the feelings of neglect we feels as fans that no matter how many times I smash my head on the table, I don't feel it.

Sorry Danny, of course you are correct.

I forgot the Burkie Koolaid was laced with alcohol.

That 3rd issue has long term disagreement written all over it

November 13, 2012  10:35 AM ET

The last item, obviously the fans pay for it. So really we're down to two issues, right?

November 13, 2012  10:40 AM ET

Harry (#13) That was my first thought too when I read that......they cannot agree on the easy things, so how will they ever resolve this........I am hoping for the season to start by Oct 2013 approx.

November 13, 2012  10:41 AM ET

All three issues are tough ones.......no quick settlement here.

November 13, 2012  10:42 AM ET

He really does look like Uncle Fester...LMAO

Speaking of screwing the fans over, the depths of the league's impact got even lower yesterday. For my birthday someone gave me a gift card to the NHL Shop. The first card they didn't actually put the funds on the card, so had to have my aunt call them with the original receipt. They shipped her a new card. Yesterday I tried to use it and...again they did not put funds on it. Called the customer service, and again they said she had to call them back with the original receipt.

The NHL Shop has an email option you can use to contact their customer service. I went on a short rant about my situation, how the league has locked out the players, alienated the fans and made me dislike hockey. So don't worry friends, they have heard our words through my email, to a unassigned, random box, and I am sure will shortly end the lockout.

The league should of course pay for the damages..they're obviously the ones that locked out the players....NO BRAINER.

Get to 50-50...EVENTUALLY...like in year 3 or year 2 in their proposals...gotta respect and honour the signed contracts. GOTTA.

The players should relent on the contract issues tho....5 years is a long friggin time...the money should be even across the board on the contracts too...no bonus's/front-loaded/back-loaded deals...and adding on another year to reach UFA status is nothing to argue about..leave as is if the NHLPA doesnt agree to it and the arbitration rights seem alright too.
