09:22 AM ET 11.13 | Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen went above and beyond the call of duty when raising money to help wounded warriors on Veterans Day weekend. Allen hosted his first-annual "Helping Heroes Gala" at the Hyatt Regency in Minneapolis. Through ticket sales and silent auctions throughout the event, Allen raised nearly $300,000 for wounded warriors. "I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who came out on Friday and made the event an incredible success," Allen said. "The support I received from my teammates and the Vikings organization was remarkable and I cannot say thank you enough. I hope that next year is even more successful. I intend to continue this event for many years to come so that we can provide more homes for our wounded warriors."
