03:10 PM ET 11.13 | The Big East has released its new divisions for 2013 and on, putting UCF, Cincinnati, Connecticut, Louisville, Rutgers and USF in the East and Boise State, Houston, Memphis, San Diego State, SMU and Temple in the West. Temple in the West and Louisville in the East might not make sense, but competitive football balance appears to have played a role.

Someone must have scrounged up a map...competitive football balance playing a role seems silly, the status quo doesn't stay the same very long in CFB...if Strong were to leave UL could become a doormat...

If they wanted it to be competitive would they not put Boise in the west and the rest of the teams in the east?

<journalist> So, coach, how do you see the eastern teams of the Big East West division shaping up this year, as compared to the western teams of the Big East East division? And could you contrast the western teams of the Big East West division with the eastern teams of the Big East East division?

<coach> Uh, what?

That requires Jose Cuervo.... and an abacus ...

How boring. Should have hired the B1G brass to dream up some crappier names for us to banter about.

I see this being a biggie for the Aztecs. Some 3* kid from the east visits he campus here in Nov??? He won't sign the LOI fast enough, and his family still gets to see him play every week.

November 13, 2012  04:44 PM ET

The western division teams will be playing in three different time zones and getting plenty of frequent flyer miles.

November 13, 2012  04:47 PM ET

It would have been so much easier if they had named their divisions "Leaders" and "Legends".

May be more like the Miller and Schaffer divisions?

Cruising the SD State campus should give those eastern recruits a better understanding of "I wish they all could be California girls".

November 13, 2012  06:26 PM ET

legends and uhhhh...

November 13, 2012  06:31 PM ET

I think conference officials should consider a name change.

November 13, 2012  08:38 PM ET

Been more fun to have North/South divisions....

Then....the East Coast team could get together and build a huge Athletic Apartment Complex and the West Coast teams could come and live there for the season....then next season, the East Coast teams would move to the West Coast Athletic Complex.

Then you would have the payoff of playing the game, but also the rent from the apartments...

"the coast to coast conference". how ridiculous. a conference that covers 4 timezones? the result of true desperation.
