08:04 AM ET 11.14 | Bill Parcells took the occasion of a radio interview earlier this week to toot a horn for his former team. [Parcells said] that despite any struggles New England has faced over the course of the first nine games of the season -- particularly on the defensive side of the ball -- he believes this year's Patriots' team is better than the one that came up just short against the Giants in Super Bowl XLVI in all three phases of the game. And he's told Bill Belichick that on several occasions. ... [Said Parcells:] "I told him that I thought his team was a better team this year than it was last year, and I really believe that. I really think that. I know they went to the Super Bowl last year, but I believe they're better now than they were in 2011."

Unless the defense shows some ability to stop the running and passing game, the only thing that will get my team to the playoffs is the ineptitude of the rest of the AFC East.

What's the Tuna been smoking, anyway? Where can I get some?

Well, yeah. If you play 12 guys they're going to be better. Wait. What? Sorry.

November 14, 2012  08:16 AM ET

Aw Bill - you're just saying that to make him feel better.

Somehow I just see the game coming down to the defense not being able to stop whoever (Pittsburgh if Ben is OK) in the last 2 minutes of the game and Brady having 35 seconds to go 80 yards. Tuna's bored.

I think just about every QB the Pats defense has faced this year has had their best game of the season against them.

Almost. Jake Locker left the game with a shoulder injury in week 1. On the other hand, he was Tennessee's leading rusher that day.

He did turn the Patriots franchise around and took them to the SB in the 90's.

There are still those who maintain that The Tuna's success was due in large part to Bill Belichick, even back then.

Wasn't his second SB with the Giants also in the 90's?
