Yeah, this is something that should be celebrated to no end.

This trade could sink both franchises if the Jays don't do well next year and fill up so seats at the Rodgers Center which in the past is always half empty.

MLB should just take the franchise away from him.

Disagree with "needed to enact". They NEED management, not window dressing. These clowns have done as good a job as possible to ruin baseball in South Florida.

I'm thinking they'll be more competitive but I don't think it's going to get them to the playoffs.
I could be wrong but I wouldn't have a whole lot of faith in either pitcher making a killing in the AL East. Reyes will help a lot.

Who ever bought the Marlins would have to be an improvement, as long as the new buyer stays put in his office. hire your GM. and manager. Work with GM and mgr. on trades , the draft and off seaon free agent signings, trades or other player moves

AL East will remain as the most competitive division once again.

It drives me crazy when public funds are used without any type of strings attached. Pretty simple to put in a clause that says something like:

The public will provide ~$500MM of public money for a stadium. You will pay a fixed $XXMM per year in rent + XX% of the profits if the Marlin's team payroll is below league average or some other statistic. If the guy wants to leave and MLB will let him - let him leave. Use the 500MM to fund something that will create actual economic growth or even better don't spend it at all.

Remember that MLB let him swap the Expos/Nationals for the Marlins. Bud Selig and Jeff Loria ought to be banned from baseball.

MLB just HAD to have a franchise in South Florida, didn't they ? How's that working out ? Think the Miami Marlin season ticket base is happy ? If they couldn't draw last year, how do you think 2013 is shaping up ? What a joke.....

Too late to sell. Who will buy something so badly damaged? The Marlins destruction is now complete. You won't have any fans next year so do the decent thing and trade Stanton to a real major league franchise.

As a long-time Marlins fan, I see this trade differently. It was a good payroll dump and a dump of players that will not fit into Miami's future. Josh Johnson is not the same pitcher he was 2 years ago. At best, his fastball reaches 92 MPH. He struggled with control and he is another injury waiting to happen. Bonifacio is a farce in the outfield. He was too busy playing up to the cameras and limited fans to be a factor this year. John Buck is an overpaid catcher. That leaves Reyes and Buehrle. Reyes never fit in Miami. His signing was equal parts publicity stunt for the team and a money grab for Reyes. The Marlins got A LOT of young talent. With the new TV revenues, they have the luxury of waiting for the new players to mesh with some other young talent already on the team - namely Giancarlo Stanton. Good bye to old rubbish, I say.
