Loria broke the public covenant of a new stadium and dropped napalm on the sport in South Florida by trading five Marlins regulars with expensive contracts to Toronto for a minor-league roster to be named later. He betrayed your trust. So you'll betray him now. ... "All right, I'm [ticked]," [Giancarlo Stanton] tweeted out Tuesday night. "Plain and simple." He then changed his Twitter avatar so he wasn't wearing a Marlins uniform anymore.

I am most definitely talking about Stanton. I don't know how the guys who were dealt feel about moving to T.O. I don't care, frankly. They signed deals with a known dick without no-trade clauses. The fact anybody trusts this slime's word is beyond me, that includes Stanton.

Fans didn't go to games for the first ten years he owned the team. He built a new stadium, they showed up for a couple weeks, then it was back to business as usual. What's going to change that hasn't already happened?

This makes up for it. I don't really care about what happened in Montreal - the gov't didn't want to pay for a new stadium, so the team went somewhere that did. Maybe if the mayor and premier and everybody else in that province weren't spending so much on hookers for construction execs and mafia members, they coulda built a new barn and the Expos would be where the Nats are now.

Stanton has never really signed a contract with Miami. Unless you count him being drafted and signing a deal, but really that shouldn't count...
He hasn't even hit arbitration yet.

Why would the government pay for a new stadium when they hadn't even finished paying off the last one?
Loria kiled the Expos plan and simple. He took them off TV, made stupid demands, refused to put any money in the team, he alienated the fan base. He did so much to kill the Expos, it is impossible to list it all here. Read Jonah Keri's book on the Expos when it comes out, should have some good stuff on it.

Besides, players re-enter the draft all the time because they don't come to agreements with the team that picks them first.
