Red Wings' amnesty candidates

08:25 AM ET 11.14 | According to reports, the next CBA could very well contain a provision to buy out one player with no salary-cap ramifications -- which a club may or may not exercise. I don't think the Red Wings would use an amnesty clause. Johan Franzen is the most viable candidate for a buyout, since he has eight years remaining at $27.75 million and has been inconsistent the past two seasons. But, if the Red Wings were inclined to dump Franzen, why buy him out when you could trade him and his reasonable $3.9 million cap hit? Todd Bertuzzi is another player some might consider a buy out candidate next summer, since he would be 38. ... But, I also don't think they would buy out Bertuzzi. And there is no way they will buy out Jonathan Ericsson.

Trade Todd Bertuzzi to the Leafs for a couple of 1st round picks. Oh, wait! The Bruins already own the exclusive rights to those!

Cool IDEA ! Give each Team one buy out every 3 years , and the right to trade that buyout. It would make superduperextrahyped trade day more interesting

even if we bit hard on the idiot, I'm glad the 'Canes dumped Kaberle on Montreal.... absolutely nothing like his brother Frantisek, I guess trading on names still exists.

I guess injury is a cause of being inconsistent.

Johan Franzen, a bit of a china doll, and that's not a compliment. I like his play, when he plays.
