Recchi to players: Offers only getting worse

08:26 AM ET 11.14 | Mark Recchi is a former player, and he's also an owner. [Recchi's] advice to the NHL's rank-and-file would be to tidy up what's on the table and get back to work. "My advice," mused Recchi, part owner of the Kamloops Blazers junior squad in the Western Hockey League, "is that the longer it goes, the worse [the offer] is going to get [for the players]. Hey, I'm an owner, too, so I see both sides." ... All in all, said Recchi, he believes it's time for the players "to think like businessmen. They have to think, what is best?" he said, reflecting again on the players' ongoing objection to the possibility that not all contracts will be made whole. "Are they better to get 90 percent of what they're due, or are they better to get zero?"

Hey, I'm an owner, too, so I see both sides.

Now that's funny...

Recchi's feeling pretty frisky cuz he's got a street named after him and isn't playing anymore.

I'd be very careful driving on Recchi Street.

Its already halfway through November !!!! A December start would have to be a reach at this point?????

Thanks, Mark! True words spoken by a guy with some credibility. The question is: Will the Fehrer allow his players to think for themselves?

Contracts? What contracts?

Once they got rid of the Winter Classic it was game, set and match on the season, a December start is not only delusional, it's insulting.

On a lighter note, pitchers and catchers report in about 3 months.

Zip it Recchi. If the players before hadnt stood up 'ole Al Eagleson might have half the money you made in his pockets. Maybe donate your big NHLPA pension cheques to a charity.

Its all good Swampy.........you should be proud that a man of your age can do it twice so close together ;-)

Wrong, Mark.

What the players should be agreeing to are the contract limitations and later free agency. It's a bit naive to think that if the players drop their demand to make the contracts whole that the CBA will magically be signed.

Hey, I'm an owner, too....

Really? You're an owner, TOO? No, Mark, you are an owner. Period. And suggesting that the players give in like they did last time when you WERE a player is a bit silly. Proving once again that hockey players are nice guys but not the brightest bulbs on the tree.
