03:35 PM ET 11.14 | There was no more dominating defensive player in Seattle's 28-7 victory over the Jets this past weekend than cornerback Richard Sherman, and on Wednesday Sherman was rewarded by being named the NFC's Defensive Player of the Week. The news came via the Twitter feed of NFL Vice President of Football Communications Michael Signora. And for those who watched Sherman dominate the Jets on Sunday, this award comes as little surprise. On the afternoon, Sherman had an interception, as well as a sack which led to a fumble. He also had three passes defended for the Seahawks, which improved to 6-4 with the victory. Beyond just Sherman though, the Seahawks as a whole put up one of the best defensive efforts we've seen from any team this season. The Jets were held to just 185 yards on 50 total plays, averaging a meager 3.7 yards per play.

Richard Sherman. Is he the one who burned Atlanta or the one that sang "Hello Mudda, Hello Fadda"?

He's the one who travels with Mr. Peabody in the Wayback Machine. And on Sundays he beats the hell out of receivers at Quest.

Don't get excited about holding the Jests to a touchdown. They can't do squat against anyone but New England and Buffalo's defense.

Ahh, I saw the trailer on TV. It all makes sense. You've been filming "Life of Pi," haven't you. It explains the absence, the story about the long sea voyage, everything.
