Blame more than Norv in San Diego

08:06 AM ET 11.15 | Fans in San Diego want change, but perhaps the answer isn't entirely about Norv Turner. It's safe to say Dean Spanos, whose opinion is the only one that matters, still feels much as he did after last season -- that it's part personnel (meaning [A.J. Smith], the general manager) and part coaching. ... As far as coaching, neither Turner nor offensive line guru Hal Hunter and his assistant Mike Sullivan forgot how to teach pass blocking. I doubt Turner is here in 2013. If Spanos decides the offensive line (not to mention Robert Meachem and Eddie Royal) are unforgivable gaffes, Smith will be gone, too. But whoever is running things better figure out what to do with at least three of the spots on the line, or they won't be here long either.

Fire AJ Smith and Norv Turner. Smith has had more than enough time to do something in SD, and he has a history of letting the wrong people go. Turner, like Wade Phillips, is an excellent coordinator who can't make the jump to HC.

" But whoever is running things better figure out ..."
I'm not sure anyone is running things in San Diego.

Sounds like a fire sale, ala Miami Marlins might be in order.

No argument than Norv should NEVER be a Head Coach again... but Smith has more than wore out his welcome as well.
By the way - I really dig your avatar...

Quite the list of HC candidates in a few months. Reid, R Ryan, Turner, Payton? Chan G. I think some teams are going to get some very good coordinators.

As they say: It's not how you win or lose it's how you place the blame. Not all Turners fault.

Norv's record of failures as a head coach at his previous stops should have been a warning too AJ Smith, but Smith fired Marty tore apart the team because he wanted to show how smart he was. He was following Jerry Jones's example of a twice failed head coach as a hire ala Wade Phillips.
Norv looked good because Marty put together and coached a good team. It helped the AFC West sucked for so long. With competition in their division the last 2 years and now this year, San Diego will miss the playoffs for now 3 straight years. Team looks horrible yet the only people who like San Diego every year is a lot of sports analysts even this season said to win the AFC West, Denver had to go through San Diego. Like San Diego was relevant. They are not.
Blow up the management. Rebuild the team. We have seen Rivers is not as great as AJ Smith gambled.

Turner failed in Washington in Oakland and now San Diego. Does not help that Philip Rivers is a jerk.

Bill Belichick would welcome him back with open arms.
Which is kind of the way the Patriots' defense tries to tackle.

Speaking of overrated, whining NFL players...let's talk some more about incessantly complaining, whining, drama-queen Drew Brees and the "pooooooor, pooooooor" Saints!

I know....let's ask Drew Brees! That incessantly whining, complaining, drama queen, blow hard, mouth-breathing, cat-scratching, annoying ignoramus; complaining that the Saints "didn't do anything wrong" while his fellow nfl quarterbacks got whipsawed & concussed....let's ask him! :)

The Patriots will keep winning as long as their offense keeps putting up big numbers.

I'd like to see Norv back in Dallas as the OC. Move Garrett to full time coach. See if that could pick the 'Boys up.
