08:20 AM ET 11.15 | Rob Ray fought a lot of battles during his 16-year NHL career, but he's not really picking a side in the lockout. He believes both sides have to share responsibility for not being able to get a deal in place to avoid this mess, but he did note that commissioner Gary Bettman has a track record. "I could sit and say Bettman is a jerk but he's done a decent job growing the game and with TV packages," said Ray, a colour analyst on Sabres' broadcasts on MSG. "You have to give him credit for that. But, when it comes to this stuff, it becomes all about him. In that way, he is making a bit of a fool of himself. He could be the hero with the game growing. ... I think he's a bit of gambler thinking that everybody is going to come back."

Shut up and fight Domi again.

Tie Domi always reminded me of a Romulan from Star Trek, did anyone else get that impression?

All that aside, this was meant to be news to anyone?

Watch out Ray....you might comment yourself out of a job.

It's not a gamble. Both the league and the players know the fans will be back. We don't count and we certainly aren't a cause for any urgency to get a deal done.

Maybe a Ferengi. I don't see Romulan too much.

Casual fans will have to be lured back in.

Diehards are diehards

Not really. The Romulans were intelligent.

True. In true hockey markets that won't be a problem. In the softer markets it could cos big problems, which might be the only silver lining in all of this.

Yup - the culling of the herd that both sides are too stupid to embrace , may be a much needed by product this time next season.

I'd even be happy with a cattle drive that moves the herd to more fertile grazing areas.

I really think Music City fans love their Preds enough that they will be back...maybe not diehard, but somewhere in between casual and diehard.......only time will tell.....

Lets hope so - really good team, and a great Coach , with a strong win loss record.

one thing Preds have done for Nashville is when game is on week night, lower Broadway is buzzing with activity....12 to 15 thousand might be at Bridgestone Arena cheering for Preds, another 10,000 are hitting the resturants and clubs down on the riverfront, two blocks away..streets are really crowed with walking traffic....has really had an economic impact on everyone downtown......this income loss is a shame for a market that has greally grown and put a competive team on the ice........
