07:59 AM ET 11.16 | The emergence of Danny Amendola has become a nice story this season in the NFL, which makes his future suddenly worth watching in St. Louis. [Amendola] said on Wednesday's episode of Pro Football Talk that he'd have no problem with having the franchise tag used against him. That could be how it turns out. A source with knowledge of the situation tells PFT that there currently are no talks between the Rams and Amendola regarding a new deal. There's no rush at this point -- especially with Amendola still being seven games away from completing his rookie deal with no serious injury. Still, if the Rams don't get something done between December 30 and late February, the Rams will have to devote nearly $10 million in cap space to Amendola for 2012.

Sure wish we could have kept this dude in Dallas...

No serious injury? Didn't he have one of those rib-shoulder things where they said it could have killed him if it was another inch of motion by the bone? And wasn't he out for several weeks?

but given who makes the personnel decisions, this is typical of Dallas.

Actually you can tag a player two years in a row. Might be cheaper than a new contract in his case.

Why did they let him go ? Did he get Jerried or Jasoned ?

Not gonna happen, they'll get a deal done or look elsewhere to find receivers... Receivers come a dime a dozen in the NFL

In fairness to the Cowboys ( and I hate doing that), he was undrafted by any team. The Eagles also let him go after a year on their practice squad. Anyone could have signed him. The Rams were desperate and they hit gold.

Amendola isn't that good... The Rams can definitely find better in free agency or the draft...

You might be right, Bradford likes him, and that is all that counts.

If it doesn't win him games it doesn't matter how much he likes him.... Don't be surprised if they find a way to get Dwayne Bowe in the mix next year.

Amendola is in a strong position because he appears to be the best receiver they have, and because the team wins when he plays, and not when he doesn't. Some of that is coincidence--one WR can't make that much difference to the W/L situation. The Rams might be wise to franchise him, and wait a year to negotiate a contract when he doesn't appear to be so critical to the team.

If they franchise him they'll be over paying for his services... better off to hammer out a deal in the off season and bring in help either through free agency (Dwayne Bowe) or through the draft with the boat load of picks they stole from the Redskins.

with the franchise tag comes big paydays so I wouldn't have a problem with it used against me either if I were him.

It hurts when your team is giving THAT receiver the franchise tag

And just know might that "free agent" be, Dwayne Bowe??? Why not sign Amendola and Bowe both, I think the Rams are under the cap!!!!
