08:08 AM ET 11.16 | Calvin Johnson's job, which includes all sorts of coverages designed to stop him, isn't an easy one -- which in theory should create opportunities in other parts of the field. Johnson believes the attention he is commanding should make 100-yard receiving games easier for Titus Young and Ryan Broyles. "There (have) been games, whether it be the tight end, or Titus, Nate (Burleson) when he was here, they've been able to have some big games," Johnson said. "That's something that you got to have. That's something that I feel like, put it like this, somebody out of the receiving group, strictly receivers, should have 100-yards every game. So far, Johnson's teammates have not lived up to his expectations.

As I recall, this Johnson isn't coming up as big as his contract, either.

It would help if they had any sort of respectable run game..... It's hard for any receiver to succeed when they know you can't run and are forced to pass 80% of the time

You need to look at yourself first because you are the star receiver and making the big money, but you start dropping passes like you are doing know, and the D does not have to double you every time and can concentrate on the others and maybe that is why they are not catching as many balls.

Your fellow receivers are Titus Young and Ryan Broyles, and you are disappointed? What did you expect?

Titus Young is an early round draft pick and Ryan Browles is the all time leader in many receiving categories in the NCAA. I would expect more from them as well. Megatron is definitely not off the hook for his lack of ability to get separation this season and dropping a few that should have been caught. But to suggest that those other guys SHOULD be playing like bums is not a good estimation in my mind.

I find it funny that so many people think Calvin Johnson is having a bad year.
He's currently on pace for 1700 receiving yards and 100+ receptions. Both would be career bests for him. So yeah... awful season.
The only stat he's hurting in is touchdowns. But if you look at the picture above, where he was drawing a near unprecedented quintuple coverage at the end of the St Louis game, it's pretty obvious why.
It's not a myth... teams are putting extra defenders on him in the red zone.
