08:13 AM ET 11.16 | Mike D'Antoni, along with the personality that helped swing him into the good graces of the Lakers brain trust, is back in the NBA. [D'Antoni] showed off his vision, charm and self-assurance Thursday in an opening news conference that proclaimed Dwight Howard would be "unstoppable," the defense would be "a bear," the bench would actually help and the Lakers should score 110-115 points per game. ... D'Antoni cautioned not to expect perfection right away, saying the drills the Lakers did Thursday are the sort he normally would be using the first day of training camp. He allowed that Howard is only 75 to 80 percent after offseason back surgery, and [Steve Nash] is at least a week away from playing because of a small leg fracture.

That fraud loser Mike D. hiring will probably cost the Lakers Howard in the end........they are not winning under him. The best thing the Knicks did was chase his **** outta the apple. We shouldn't have hired his **** and niether should have the Lakers.......doom is lurking in Lakersland!

The Lakers should trade Jimmy for a Jerry Buss bobble-head.

Good grief.....Howard is a true center because he can what.....Dunk?? Oh, and he also can......dunk?...

You're right, Howard and KG can't even be in same comparison...because Howard's complete catalog of offensive moves is "I'm hurt"...and "I'm gonna dunk".

Howard can't even rebound as well as KG, and he's much bigger.....Howard = drama queen prima donna.

Good grief....

I think he is being realistic than actually making an excuse. He hasn't even started yet. I would give him until the AS game to figure this team and establish a pattern.
After that if hings don't go well, then sure whatever he says will be more like an excuse.
