08:20 AM ET 11.16 | We now know where agent Scott Boras is setting the bar for South Korean left-handed pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin. Speaking in front of a group of 40 to 50 reporters, most of them South Korean, Boras compared Ryu to only one pitcher: Mark Buehrle. "Body-type-wise, size-wise, ability, he reminds me a lot of Buehrle," Boras said. Buehrle signed a four-year, $58-million deal with the Miami Marlins last winter. ... Ryu was evasive when asked if he would be disappointed if he couldn't reach a deal with the Dodgers. "Whatever happens, I wish for the best," Ryu said. Here's what Ryu did say: If he signs with the Dodgers, he intends to wear No. 99, which he has worn his entire professional career. The last Dodgers player to wear the number was Manny Ramirez.

Yes, the very same Boras who sought a $100 mil contract for Dice-K.

If the Dodgers make this deal it will cost them almost a 100 million dollars for a unproven want a be MLB pitcher.

Blame it on Ryu.

Buyer beware.

Ryu seems to be a nice 3-4 starter, not an Ace. So, both expectation and salary should be curved. He has to prove himself first.

He reminds me of Kazuhisa Ishii. Not terrible, but not greater, either... just average...

HHHYYYYYDDDDUUUUUKKKEEENNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

November 16, 2012  10:56 AM ET

God help Dodgers if Ryu turns into Kei Igawa.... strangely enough, both Ryu and Igawa had career ERA of 2.80 when they both jumped to MLB, and they both had subpar seasons. Hrmmmmmmm.....

Another Boras story just irritates me.
The man is annoying, but if I were a player I'd have to give him consideration as an agent.
He has an ability to make GM's and Owners go stupid in negotiating contracts.

Buehrle is an average middle-of-the-rotation starter these days, but he is worth 200 innings per year. Don't know if this guy will pitch as well, or stay as healthy. But he is 25, while Buehrle is 34 or so, so he might be a better gamble than Buehrle at this time.

And here I thought Ryu was going to ask for Dreifort money

Including "Body size, appearance, and ability" Boras also reminds many MLB owners of being a Warthog. That must mean he is entitled to Warthog money

moras is using the brain wash approach towards any team WHO would like to sign this uknown pitcher, its he really good?? or its just a way to bring up some more interested teams to it??

So now Boras is trying to make a case that a guy get paid based upon his build? Hope they do a spit laugh at him for that one. The player is a big question mark against major league hitters.

buehrle has earned his money he has experience and has been very effective whenever he has needed to be at the right place at the right time, the new rookie would need to proved and need to work very hard,,in order to deserve top money,,,

the problem is more the teams than boras, every team NEEDS to stop listen to boras cheap brainwash, the free agent needs to earn his spot as a poitcher and his money as a player, and no player should get top money only because the nice imformation from the agent player!!!
