Wings prospect out for season after scare

08:29 AM ET 11.16 | Even during the lockout, there are injury scares, both to players overseas and, in the case of Red Wings forward prospect Marek Tvrdon, in junior hockey. [Tvrdon] is out for the season due to a blood clot in his left shoulder, but was relieved to learn it is not a career-ending condition. Tvrdon, 19, is expected to be able to begin his pro career with the Grand Rapids Griffins next season. Tvrdon, the leading scorer for the Vancouver Giants of the Western Hockey League, had a procedure Monday to remove the clot. "I was really scared when the doctor say I can maybe never play hockey anymore," Tvrdon told the Vancouver Sun. "The Detroit Red Wings were scared. My agent was scared. Now I feel better because they tell me I can still play hockey."

I've seen this kid play and I like his style (even if he is a Wings prospect).
It's terrifying to have anyone tell you you cannot do something you are passionate about because of a medical condition. Thankfully in this case it can be treated, he should thank his lucky stars, not everyone is so lucky and from all appearances that's what he is doing, it's rare to see that form of humility anymore.
