09:40 PM ET 11.17 | USC quarterback Matt Barkley was once considered a likely first pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. That could be changing as the Trojans' season nears a close. Sam Farmer of the LA Times says that NFL scouts are starting to question the USC signal caller. "When he???s throwing it across the field on a deep out, the ball sort of hangs in the air. He doesn???t have that ability to just drive it. In the NFL, with the corners, they break so much quicker. They see it quicker, they close. A lot of those balls are going the other direction at the next level." Scouts also questioned his ability to make plays happen when the pocket collapses. Making it worse for Barkley is a shoulder injury suffered on Saturday, Nov. 17.

The "unfinished business" thing just isn't working out. Not his fault, though.

I hope he's enjoying that extra year in school as much as Matt Leinart did...

He may not be the first pick, who knows? But he will still be the first QB taken. If you are a bad NFL team and need a QB, your choices are not that many.

This was something that was obvious for the last 3 years and true of many USC QB's they are highly touted recruits out of H.S. but they are poorly coached at USC. If USC weren't such a recruiting magnet they would be in last place. Kiffin will be shown the door in a few more years.

I suppose it could slip to the second QB taken behind Geno Smith. Regardless, the chiefs, Jags and Browns have no choice but to take a QB. And they are not alone.

The more people see the #2 @ QB, Max Wittek, the less they'll like Barkley. That kids got a gun.

Yep. If Barkley's regression, and the flattened footballs didn't do it, the loss to UCLA probably sealed his fate. Good riddance.
