Hawks not interested in trading Josh Smith for Pau Gasol

09:56 AM ET 11.18 | Sources say that the Hawks, at present, have no interest in parting with Josh Smith and Kyle Korver for Pau Gasol. Or even Smith and lesser parts for Gasol. Positions can obviously change between now and the Feb. 21 trade deadline, but sources maintain that Atlanta has not been enticed in the least by the prospect of parting with the 26-year-old Smith -- even as he heads into unrestricted free agency -- for the 32-year-old Gasol. The Hawks, for the record, have also been telling interested teams that they value Smith and what he offers as a hybrid forward in an Eastern Conference that's generally been getting smaller.

Do the Lakers have another plant (Jerry West) inside the Hawks front office? I think this is probably what'll take to pull this off!

There are rumors of Smith for Al Jefferson. Smith for Kaman etc that also include picks.
IMO Smith is being over-valued. For all his talents, he is a professional D'bag. I, for one, will be extremely pleased to see him leave.
ATL needs a legit C, so Al can move to PF. Then we need to either draft or get a marquee PG in FA. Ever since we skipped paul and deron to draft the ghost of marvin williams, we've never had a above-average PG.
btw Devin Harris sucks a-ssss

makes no sense for both sides,
1) for the Hawks, getting Gasol is not gonna do anything for their franchise, they wont be turned into a contender.....
2) As for the Lakers, if they are gonna trade Pau, at least get 1 that can shoot 3s, ie, Millsap, or Ryan Anderson

why the hell would they want gasol?smith will be moved by the deadline- but Atl will want picks and young players back, not old guys with a monster contract

Agree about Atlanta not wanting Gasol. Hawks are re-building and want to have the young players and picks. Gasol would be suited for a team that is close and needs another piece to put them over. Like the Lakers :).

QUOTE(#14):

The Lakers would have better luck trading Pau for Amare. Swapping one bad contract for another is probably the only way those two players get moved. Besides, Dantoni probably would love to have another player that fits his system.

So...they dodged a bullet by getting rid of a big with bad knees (Bynum) so they could sign another one in Amare?
