08:05 AM ET 11.19 | Tom Brady summed it up Monday morning thusly: "It [stinks]." Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, who suffered a broken left forearm in the fourth quarter of Sunday's win over the Colts, will undergo surgery Monday, a league source said. While it is unclear how long at this point how long he will be sidelined, it is not season-ending, the source said. Gronkowski was blocking on the final extra point of the Patriots' 59-24 win when cornerback Marshay Green rushed inside Gronkowski and his arm crumpled. As Gronkowski left the field after the play, the arm just hung at his side. A few minutes later he walked off the field and to the locker room with team doctor Thomas Gill. Gronkowski had seven catches for 137 yards and two touchdowns on Sunday.

It stinks??? More like stupid for him to be in on that play at that point of the game.

November 19, 2012  08:31 AM ET

Agreed, is there any reason why he should have even been in at that point, or even most of the other regulars???

You mean besides Belichick being a stubborn ass?

Belichick's arrogance taking precedence over convential wisdom equals broken arm for star player.

Pedal to the metal. We've had a couple of games (like last week) where we almost lost because we did NOT run up the score, and our generous defense let the opponents back into the game.

The only way for the Patriots to finish is to keep scoring until the final whistle. I hate to say it, but it's true.

Thanks, hbomb.

Jason Campbell vs. the 49er defense, or Alex Smith vs. the Bears defense. Should be interesting.

I understand that their defence really didn't get any better during the offseason, and the goal is basically to simply remain at full offensive production, and this was a pretty crappy fluke injury. But discretion should be used once the score is in the 50s.

Smith is scratched. He couldn't pass the concussion test.

Kaepernick vs Campbell.
