11:13 AM ET 11.19 | The San Francisco 49ers will be without starting quarterback Alex Smith when they take on the Chicago Bears on Monday, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen. Smith suffered a concussion last week against the St. Louis Rams, and despite practicing during the week was unable to get clearance from a neurologist to play. Colin Kaepernick will get his first career start. Kaepernick took over for Smith in the second quarter last week, and went 11-for-17 for 117 yards. He also rushed for 66 yards and a touchdown. However, his task will be much more difficult this week, as he'll face a Bears team that ranks second in the NFL in scoring defense. The 49ers have the top-ranked scoring defense.

The Colin Kaepernick era officially begins...

Kaepernick vs. the Bears D, or Campbell versus the 49ers D.

I wonder who the "experts" will pick now?

Looks like another 13-6 game. Only question is, who scores the 13 points?

The 'D' will score all the points, maybe special teams some, so it looks like SF.

Have to wonder who are the back ups to Kaepernick & Campbell.

After watching that game yesterday afternoon... I'm pretty well washed out on bad football for the week.

I think I'll catch up on the DVR tonight.

My wife's out of town, so maybe I'll do some laundry so I'll have socks for the rest of the week.

Or maybe I'll just go buy some more socks.

I don't know about Kapernick, but the Bears re-signed Josh McCown to back up Campbell. Not very encouraging one way or the other.

Wow, sorry you missed a really good game, Otis. The 49'ers really killed the Bears in all facets of the game. The Bear's defense was pretty thoroughly outclassed by the second-string offense from San Francisco.
