03:10 PM ET 11.19 | Residents of Pasadena, California, will file into the city hall on Monday night to make their voices heard as the City Council begins a discussion about whether or not to open up the Rose Bowl to professional football. Monday's public hearing, reports the Los Angeles Times, is the first step toward passing a city ordinance allowing the facility to be used by an NFL team. Critics contend that bringing an NFL team to the Rose Bowl would have a negative impact on the community, inviting traffic snarls, loud noise and an imposition on adjacent public lands. Proponents at the municipal level see a means to raise the funds necessary to close a budget gap of $30 million in ongoing maintenance for the site.

Said traffic snarls and such would only occur if someone actually went to watch this NFL team. Didn't happen the last time there was a team in LA.

Won't work unless they have luxury boxes. Corporations pay millions of dollars for those, to impress their business contacts. No luxury boxes = no NFL interest.
The issue in Cal has never been fans, it has been corporate support, and corporations want luxury boxes.

Yeah, an NFL franchise would have much more of an impact than the small, community-based events they usually have at the Rose Bowl, like bakes sales and kite-flying contests.

Exactly... and the Rose Bowl has no such items.
It's not the stadium of choice at all.

Absolutely untrue. The Rams actually led the league in attendance for much of its run in Los Angeles. It was only when they moved to Anaheim that they had attendance issues and then only when Georgia Frontiere tanked the team so she could justify moving somewhere where the city would buy her a new stadium.

The Sunday traffic snarls will no doubt leave a negative impact on the monthly antique flea market at the Bowl, as well as further disrupt the town's carefully constructed wealthy, private-school, country club-esque reputation.
Maybe the new home team can go shopping for marked-up Shabby Chic home furniture before putting on their shoulder pads?
