04:07 PM ET 11.19 | Will Maryland's exit to the Big Ten result in a lowered exit fee for other ACC schools? Florida State president Mark Barron says he's keeping a close eye on how much the Terps pay to get into the Big Ten, since a reduction in that fee can only mean FSU would pay less as well. FSU, Clemson and Maryland were the three schools to vote against the fee.

I wonder if FSU has a super booster willing to pay $50 mil. Something tells me Free Shoes does not.

Why would they leave (I guess money). almost a guaranteed conference championship every year. Good move by my terps (sarcasm!). Instead of being flat out destroyed twice a year in football they get to do it 5 or 6 times now!

Big 12 which thanks to realignment is really the Big 10 which is not the real "BIG 1G" which is really the Big 12. Well you get what I mean, I hope ;- /

Watched a replay of the Maryland press conf today. Their president made it clear that they had a plan to deal with the exit fee. A donor was part of the plan, but also legal challenge of the fee amount. Apparently this guy used to be some kind of contract law prof. Says he advised the ACC during their vote to raise the exit fee that it wouldn't hold up in court. They don't plan on paying fifty million.

No! Why would they want to be in the SEC? We're always overrated and there is a bias in the polls.
Ok. maybe the bias thing, if it were true (but it's not), would be a positive.

You cannot actually believe that there is not a GLARING bias, at least in the AP Poll, when it comes to the SEC.

Nope. All of our money men are still paying off that "illegal" discount that Peter Warrick got at Dillard's.

Maryland going into the B1G gives Indiana and Illinois a chance for another conference "W." In basketball they will be mid-pack. Same with Rutgers.

LOL. There is a bias in the polls. It has been earned in six straight title games but it is a little overboard. I've read that the SEC has played 54 OOC games so far, and 44 have been against non-BCS and FCS opponents. The SEC's record against BCS opponents? 4-6.
Here's a breakdown of the SEC's non-BCS competition (gotta say, it's very impressive):
7 against CUSA,
5 against MAC,
3 against WAC,
12 against SBC, (Sun Belt)
17 against FCS
The ACC, for all its "academic" standing, is much stupider at scheduling and has played 18 BCS opponents. Thanks to silliness like Duke scheduling Stanford (practically a guaranteed loss right now, with where both programs are), and NCSt crapping the bed for 90 seconds vs. Tenn, the ACC is an underwhelming 5-13. The SEC buys wins in OOC. The ACC schedules losses, and then plays poorly against nearly-even competition.
Still, as you can see, the SEC gets credit for beating each other, despite the fact that their only real tests come against - each other. It's a bit silly for three 2-loss SEC teams to be ranked so highly. And for FSU's 1-pt road loss to be so much more of a hit than UGA's 28-pt road loss (to a team that has a 33-pt road loss to one of the weakest top 10 teams).
Don't get me wrong. I think the SEC is the best football conference in the nation. But its vast superiority is overrated.

Oh, certainly. The SEC is far and away the best place for FSU. And the SEC would be smart to add FSU. While A&M and Mizzou added new markets they didn't much move the meter for the CBS/ESPN contracts. FSU would help raise those contracts as it garners high national television ratings. FSU also sells merchandise well on a national level, so its probably the highest profile team the SEC can get. UT and OU aren't going anywhere; ND isn't joining; OSU/Mich/etc. aren't leaving the B1G. And so on.
FSU and a second team (which could be in a third new market) would allow the SEC to expand greatly in both the new market sector (including the last expansion) AND the ratings sector. This move is perhaps better than the SEC's ideal: grabbing a school in NC and VA. It is certainly better than any alternative move, assuming a UNC/UVA or VT/NCSt can't be reached. It's also much better than a UVA/VT or UNC/NCSt deal that only gains one new state.
