09:25 PM ET 11.19 | English midfielder David Beckham has announced that his final game with the Los Angeles Galaxy will be next month's MLS Cup at the Home Depot Center. Both Beckham and the team announced his decision on Monday. Beckham responded with some comments of his own, thanking the fans for welcoming him to the States and making his experience with the Galaxy a good one. "In my time here I have seen the popularity of the game grow every year. I've been fortunate to win trophies, but more important to me has been the fantastic reception I've had from fans in L.A. and across the States. Soccer's potential has no limits in this wonderful country and I want to always be part of growing it," Beckham said in a statement. The Galaxy will be looking to repeat as MLS champions.

Has he actually done anything of note on the pitch in the last five years? It seems he's only in the news because of his underwear adverts or a new tattoo. Fiver says he'll play anywhere he gets offered money otherwise he becomes as relevant as Bob Dole the day he retires.

I don't understand why he is such a hot commodity anymore.....Isn't he usually off with foot/ankle injuries when not showing his gitch in ads?
He is a "used to be".

He's still better than 95% of the players in the MLS, when you've seen a bit of real football you may understand that - judging by these comments, you guys spend more time watching underwear ads than sports, but you know.. each to his own... whatever floats your boat...
