07:37 AM ET 11.20 | Free-agent first baseman Lance Berkman finds himself in a pretty nice place. [Berkman] has received interest from four major league teams. Berkman, the new volunteer assistant coach at Rice, said Monday he has been contacted by the Red Sox, Rays, Phillies and Astros. He described the talks as in the 'tire-kicking mode.' "They feel like if I can stay healthy that I can help their ballclub, and obviously that's flattering," Berkman said. Berkman said he has not made a decision whether he will play a 15th major-league season. He said he is 'wide-open' as far as timetable to make a decision. "I'm waiting to be blown away by an offer," he said. "If I'm not, I'll be out (at Rice)."

He might be able to stay in the lineup as a DH. He gave the Cardinals a great year in 2011and nothing in 2012. It all worked out fairly even. He was a huge bargain in 2011 and a bad deal last year.
I wish him luck, he was a big part of the championship team.

The Phillies must be interested in forming a Fountain of Youth team if they are thinking of adding Berkman to their already older team.

It would be good to see him play in St Louis again and have another good year or two.

Don't see Tampa signing him unless they can get him on the low end which based on this article isn't going to happen.

wiseup:Berkman's idea of a big contract and team's version of a big contract is a wide gap. Berkman would be a good fit as a DH in Houston. Bekman could be a leader for younger guys on team and teach them how to play the game the right way. It sounds strange talking about a DH in Houston.
