Agents pressuring players as sponsor flees

07:47 AM ET 11.20 | After Monday evening's meeting, neither side in the NHL's labor dispute seemed all that optimistic, with Bill Daly telling reporters, "I'm frustrated." The pressure is mounting on both sides to get a deal done with Dec. 1 around the corner. Not only are some owners getting itchy, sources say there are agents trying to apply heat for Fehr to negotiate. The NHL and the players both stand to lose if the season is lost. Kraft announced before the meeting Monday it is pulling its sponsorship of Hockeyville in 2013 and will give a $1 million to grassroots programs. If the league and the union can't come to an agreement, then Kraft isn't going to be the first major sponsor to jump ship. Many could follow them out the door.

Good. So much for the growth of hockey being Buttgoblins legacy. It will be 3 work stoppages and the loss of Corp. sponsorships.....cant be long until NBC reads the fine print of their contract with the NHL and sues to recoup the $ they paid up front.

Te sad state of affairs is bordering on depressing.
One hopes that not too many leave, but one cannot be suprised at all by it.

The quickest resolution will come if sponsors and advertisers say enough is enough. That will get both sides attention. It would be nice to see NBC step in and do something, too.

One of the many Kraft products without a trace of cheese. ;-)

Agreed, especially if NBC can threaten with counter-programming. The winter months are fairly bleak but I believe they now have the US TV contracts for the EPL and Formula One. Although I don't think the EPL deal starts until September 2013 and F1 begins in March 2013.

Yup ! Our household growing up was low middle class income at best. Mom knew many ways to change up Mac and cheese, wieners and beans, and fried Spam or Bologna. When Kraft first dazzled us with "spirals" Mac and cheese , and "egg noodle" Mac and cheese we thought things were really looking up ;-)

doesnt make a difference because at this point lost revenue means nothing. This isnt about getting the best deal done, its about being able to point a finger at the other and say I beat you. So in the case of lost revenue it will always be the others fault...meanwhile they will bicker until nothing is left.
