The biggest 'hawk' in the room

07:48 AM ET 11.20 | Though Monday's talks were indeed a step above a two-week moratorium, pessimism reigned both before and after the NHL and NHLPA, this time including the likes of David Backes, Ryan Callahan, Vincent Lecavalier and Martin St. Louis, met in New York. A brief meeting with no further meetings scheduled would mean more cancellations coming before or after the Thanksgiving holiday while a long session would hopefully mean that the exploratory conversations have hit some black gold. According to sources with knowledge of the negotiations, [Bruins Principal Owner Jeremy Jacobs] has continued to be the biggest hard line "hawk" among the NHL Board of Governors pushing for an overwhelming league victory while working closely with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman.

It is the only only outcome. It was predetermined on Dec. 18th, 2010.

Yup - and shortly after that happens the Players will realize their best possible CBA option was on the table in November.

Really? The best CBA option was for all the concessions to be made by the players and none by the owners?

Doesn't this qualify as some sort of collusion?

That's just a joke, btw.

The best deal the players could end up with vs. what they will be forced to agree to next year.
