01:24 PM ET 11.20 | The Pittsburgh Steelers have decided to sign free agent wide receiver Plaxico Burress, according to reports. Burress reportedly flew to Pittsburgh on Monday and planned to meet with the team on Tuesday and the Steelers decided to sign Burress after watching him participate in a workout. The Steelers wide receiver corps has been weakened by injury, as Antonio Brown has missed the last two games due to an ankle injury and Jerricho Cotchery sustained an injury late in Sunday's contest against the Baltimore Ravens. This left team exploring for replacement options.

This will make Big Ben happy, if and when he comes back.

I realize they bring different skill sets, but honestly if the Steelers were gonna go looking for cast-offs to bring back, they could have done a lot worse than Ward. Yeah, Plax is big, but I doubt he's as fast as he used to be. And Ward always played like a big receiver anyway.

But it's hard to imagine Ward playing with abandon like he used to, now that he's been forced to consider his life after football. Letting Plax go was a financial decision. The reason he wasn't signed with the Steelers before was about money, as well. Kevin Colbert has always had a fairly high opinion of Plax. And he's done alright with the team so far.

I guess I'll take a wait-and-see approach with this one.
