The NBA's most improved player

08:06 AM ET 11.21 | Among a list that includes the likes of Omer Asik, Larry Sanders, Jrue Holiday and J.R. Smith, O.J. Mayo, who is averaging a career-high 21.8 points per game -- after seasons of 11.3 and 12.6 in Memphis -- to go along with a career-high average of more than 34 minutes per game, may lead the pack. He has been shooting so well (60 percent on 3s), he has been hanging around in the MVP rankings 'round here. Can't expect him to stay ahead of Kobe Bryant over there, can we? Without him (as the Mavs wait for Dirk Nowitzki to come back from knee surgery), the Mavs could have been Wizard material. But the guy who everyone always said could be a terrific featured scorer has kept Dallas afloat.

How he plays with Dirk is what matters.

*Yawn* So he was overrated coming outta college and underachieved his whole career..NOW he's the most improved? Seems like he is where he should have been in the first place..

That's BS. They took what the defense gave. OJ was well defended on that last play, it's too bad his team mate Marion cannot knock down a VERY open 16-foot shot. GREAT pass by Mayo, and he didn't force a shot just because he was hot.

Chandler should use tonite's match up as redemption. Kaman destroyed him in the first game.

And who exactly won the first game? Exactly....boy I tell you and that other backhanded Knicks fan are quite a cuppa tea. Winning is all that matters....remember you Melo post, now you got words for Chandler...putzs you and him!

Means nothing. He was on a contending team and couldn't do much. So scoring on a sucky team proves nothing then what memphis thought. This kid needs too much touches for a simple 15-18 pts a game. Someone has to score on a sucky team.........

lol hey even someone on that wizards squad is avg 18-20 pts a game giving another team a false image of that player being good.

Once Dirk gets back they'll be much more formidable on offence. I agree with the earlier post re. Kaman. He's got it rolling right now. Feed the ball to that man!

You just don't get the point that 'fans' whatever you define that to mean can say whatever they want to whenver... Melo's averaging more rebounds than Chandler. That should tell you something about the defensive player of the year... yikes.
