08:14 AM ET 11.21 | The Red Sox are hard at work these days, even if there haven't been any acquisitions. While we haven???t heard much on the Red Sox front since they engaged in trade talks with Miami for Jose Reyes and Josh Johnson, other GMs inform me the Red Sox have been very active in trying to make something happen. The Sox are trying to make a trade that would land them either a starting pitcher/shortstop/outfielder and are trying to sign a first baseman/ starting pitcher. Names? There aren???t many guys they haven???t engaged in some level of talks with. ... [Kyle Lohse] had a great year and yes, the Red Sox have called about him. At 34, he may be a bit out of their age range. He???s probably looking for at least three years and that may be risky.

Lohse turn down over 13 million from the Cards, so he is probably looking for a 3 to 5 year deal worth around 15 to 20 million a year.

I would much prefer Edwin Jackson over Lohse. Anibel Sanchez too.

Edwin jackson has too many injuries issues, plus he its a contract player after been signed to any team the DL its waiting for him! and boras its his agent!!!!

Lohse is solid. His only bad years in St. Louis where because of a vien which was crushed in is forearm when he was hit by a pitch. He was a true Duncan student who learned the virtues of the sinker and pitching to contact.

The only reason the Cardinals didn't try to sign him was the large number of young power arms coming up behind him. Boras is his agent, but Lohse tends to take control when he knows where he wants to sign.

What injury issues? Edwin Jackson has started at least 31 games since 2007.
