Pasadena takes a step in bringing in temporary NFL team

10:39 AM ET 11.21 | The Pasadena Sun reports that Pasadena City Council members voted 7-1 to increase the number of events allowed at the Rose Bowl from the current 12 a year to 25 if a deal is struck with an NFL team. This is a huge development, since it could mean that an NFL team will have the ability to relocate in the near future and play almost immediately in the city of Pasadena and represent the greater Los Angeles area. Currently, the Rose Bowl is home to UCLA football and the Rose Bowl game in January, which fils most of the current events allowed by the city. Raising the event limit to 25 will ensure there will be plenty of space to accompany the eight to ten home games that would be part of an NFL team's temporary stay in Pasadena.

Doesn't matter...
As long as the AEG proposal is the only one on the table in LA, there will not be NFL football there.

That is really huge. I never thought they'd do that, must mean they are hurting for money.
That is one difficult parking lot to get in and out of, expect long delays. You have to go through a very rich neighborhood. No immediate freeway access.

With the direction Goodell and the owners are taking the league I don't know why a city would want a franchise. Couple years and QB's will be suing linebackers for getting their jersey wrinkled. Nothing but a bunch of lawyers cutting up the pie. That's the new American way.

Any team that moves to LA will be temporary.
Note to NFL: LOS ANGELES DOES NOT WANT YOU, HAS NOT SUPPORTED YOU IN THE PAST, AND WILL NOT DO SO NOW.
Thank you, this has been a public service announcement.

I guess the Raiders selling out a 92,000 seat stadium numerous times means no support from locals? Guess all those folks made a 500 mile trip from Oakland.

If they don't get an NFL team, they can put on several huge concerts a year. I'll bet the neighbors will love that.

Because the L.A. Coluseum isn't a NFL caliber stadium anymore and all the optimises of a new stadium never materialized.
The very same reason that the Ross Bowl is a temporary solution.

Ah now I get the thinking; the LA stadium will take a while to build after (if) it is approved, but a team could play for a year or two in Pasadena while waiting for construction to finish, thus speeding the process of a team to LA.
